The J52B chair is one of the most iconic chairs in Denmark's rich design history so it's not surprising its from one of their most famous design figures; Børge Mogensen.
When originally released the chair was a huge success around the world and became known as one President Kennedy's favorites. Apart from being a design classic, its also a very comfortable and can be used as a dining chair or just to relax in.
Børge Mogensen is today one of the most well-known Danish furniture designers, but he was just a 28-year-old forward-thinking emerging talent when he was employed as FDB Møbler's first furniture designer. Eight years later he would leave to start his own studio with the foundation built at FDB to lead the golden age of Danish furniture designers.

Børge Mogensen was head of FDB Møbler’s creative studio from 1942-1950. His goal was to design beautiful, simple and functional furniture with solid craftsmanship at a price that was accessible to most people. Not only did he establish the foundation and values that FDB Møbler stands for today, he was also one of the driving forces that made Danish design internationally renowned.
"Furniture ought to make room for people" That has been the philosophy of FDB Møbler since 1942 when was founded with architect Børge Mogensen heading up the studio.
Many new designers have since entered the fold, but the foundational principles remain the same: To create beautiful, functional and exceptionally crafted furniture that make room for everyday living and that can withstand everyday wear and tear to age gracefully with those who use them.
FDB Møbler is internationally known as a frontrunner of Danish design. It’s a story of classic pieces to be passed down from generation to generation. The values that FDB Møbler was founded upon continue to shape every piece of oak and beech. They are woven into the seats and are upheld in each design.
